Bhubaneswar, October 3: Several eminent personalities visited KIIT and KISS in Bhubaneswar on Friday and interacted with students. On the occasion, seven distinguished personalities were honoured with the KIIT-KISS Lifetime Achievement Award for their contributions in different fields.
Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav, who attended the programme as the chief guest, said education is not only about gaining knowledge but also about transforming oneself. He urged students to remember their responsibility towards society after completing their education.
U.S. Congressman Michael James Baumgartner praised KIIT and KISS as major educational institutions and said education can further strengthen India-US relations.
Padma Shri Phoolbasan Bai Yadav, founder of Maa Bamleshwari Janhitkari Samiti, encouraged students to overcome poverty and challenges with determination. Senior journalist Chitra Tripathi of ABP News said the vision of a Viksit Bharat could be seen at KISS and urged students to take inspiration from KIIT and KISS founder Dr Achyuta Samanta.
Motilal Oswal, Co-Founder, Group Managing Director and CEO of Motilal Oswal Financial Services, advised students to follow three principles in life—“Learn, Earn and Return.” He encouraged them to learn more, earn more and contribute more to society.
The KIIT-KISS Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Padma Shri Phoolbasan Bai Yadav; Dr Brock Tessman, President of Montana State University, USA; Lia Olguta Vasilescu, Mayor of Craiova, Romania; Vasile Karare, Mayor of Milisauti, Romania; Dumitru Boras, Mayor of Birlad, Romania; Erik Federico Pérez Vega, Rector of APEC University; and Jorge Calzoni, Rector of the National University of Avellaneda, Argentina.
KIIT and KISS founder Dr Achyuta Samanta welcomed the guests and expressed gratitude for their visit and interaction with the students.
