Bhubaneswar: Two units of Hindalco Industries Limited have received environmental awards from the State Pollution Control Board (SPCB), Odisha, for their efforts in pollution control and environmental management.
Hindalco’s Hirakud Smelter & Power received the “Pollution Control Appreciation Award 2026” in the Industry Category. Aditya Aluminium, another major manufacturing unit of Hindalco, received the “MK Rout Pollution Control Excellence Award 2026” in the Industrial Township Category.
The awards were presented during the 43rd Foundation Day celebration of SPCB Odisha held in Bhubaneswar on Friday. Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Labour and ESI Minister Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia presented the awards.
The ceremony was attended by senior government officials, including Bhaskar Jyoti Sharma, Principal Secretary, Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department; Dr K Murugesan, PCCF & HoF, Odisha; Dr Manoj V Nair, Member Secretary, SPCB; and Prof Pravat Kumar Roul, Vice Chancellor, OUAT.
The Hirakud Smelter & Power was recognised for its pollution control measures and environmental management practices. The award was received by Plant Head Pratap Sahu, Head–Corporate Affairs Ardhendu Mohapatra, Deputy Head–Corporate Affairs Soubhagya K Tripathy and Head–Environment Ranjan Jena.
Aditya Aluminium was also recognised for its pollution control measures and environmental management practices. The award was received by Unit Head Jagannath P Nayak, along with Ardhendu Mohapatra, Soubhagya K Tripathy, Lalit Charan and Shyamlendu Mohapatra.
The recognitions highlight the environmental initiatives undertaken by the two Hindalco units in Odisha.
