Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi Arrives in Abu Dhabi to Lead UAE Investment Outreach

Abu Dhabi, September 8, 2026: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi arrived in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, beginning a high-level investment outreach aimed at strengthening economic ties between Odisha and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).


The Chief Minister is leading a high-level delegation comprising Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, Chief Secretary Anu Garg and senior officials from the Industries Department and IPICOL. The delegation was received in Abu Dhabi by Additional Chief Secretary, Industries, Hemant Sharma, along with UAE-based officials and representatives of the Embassy of India.


Following his arrival, Majhi reviewed preparations for a series of high-level business and investor engagements scheduled from September 9 to 11. The meetings are aimed at attracting investment and developing partnerships in sectors including manufacturing, infrastructure, energy, petrochemicals, chemicals and emerging industries.
The Chief Minister also met the Ambassador of India to the UAE and discussed strengthening India-UAE relations and expanding economic and people-to-people linkages.
Majhi stressed the need to provide continued support and ease of living for Odias working and residing in the UAE, recognising the diaspora as an important bridge between Odisha and the UAE.
Speaking ahead of the investor engagements, the Chief Minister said Odisha was entering a new phase of industrial growth and that the UAE outreach was aimed not merely at inviting investment but at building long-term partnerships based on trust, technology, value creation and employment.
He highlighted Odisha’s natural resources, industrial infrastructure, ports, competitive power availability, skilled manpower and access to Indian and global markets as key advantages for investors.
High-level meetings from September 9
The first full day of the outreach programme on September 9 will include meetings with International Holding Company (IHC) and its business verticals, the Indian Business and Professional Group (IBPG), the UAE Minister of Investment and senior investment stakeholders.
A focused engagement with investors from the petrochemicals and chemicals sectors is also scheduled.
The Odisha delegation is expected to use these meetings to explore specific investment proposals, technology partnerships, industrial collaboration and opportunities for long-term participation in the state’s economic growth.
The UAE visit is part of the Odisha government’s broader effort to strengthen international investment partnerships and position the state as a competitive destination for global businesses. The government is seeking to convert investor interest into concrete projects, employment opportunities and long-term economic value for Odisha.
