The 1st International Bhubaneswar Movement Disorder Masterclass (iBMDC 2026) was inaugurated today at Hotel Mayfair Lagoon, Bhubaneswar, marking the beginning of a landmark academic event dedicated to advancing knowledge and clinical excellence in the field of Movement Disorders. The three-day international masterclass, being held from 17th to 19th July 2026, has brought together renowned national and international faculty, neurologists, residents, fellows, and healthcare professionals from across India and abroad.
Organized by the Neurology Association of Odisha (NAO), iBMDC 2026 aims to provide a comprehensive academic platform for the latest developments in the diagnosis and management of Parkinson’s disease, dystonia, tremor, ataxia, myoclonus, chorea, gait disorders, functional movement disorders, and other complex neurological conditions.
The inaugural ceremony witnessed the presence of eminent national and international faculty members, distinguished guests, and delegates. The Organizing Committee extended a warm welcome to all participants and highlighted the vision of establishing iBMDC as a premier international academic platform for movement disorders education.
The conference is privileged to host internationally acclaimed faculty including Prof. Kailash P. Bhatia (United Kingdom) and Prof. Alberto J. Espay (United States of America), along with several eminent Indian experts. During the three-day programme, the faculty will deliver comprehensive teaching modules, memorial orations, interactive case discussions, video-based learning sessions, and practical workshops covering recent advances in movement disorders.
One of the major attractions of the Masterclass is the Hands-on Botulinum Toxin Workshop, scheduled on the final day, offering participants practical training in evidence-based techniques for the management of movement disorders. The programme also includes the iBMDC Quiz Competition, designed to encourage academic excellence and active participation among postgraduate trainees and young neurologists.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Soumyadarshan Nayak, Organizing Secretary, iBMDC 2026, welcomed all delegates and emphasized the importance of continuous medical education, collaborative research, and international academic exchange in improving patient care and advancing the field of Movement Disorders.
The Organizing Committee also acknowledged the prestigious endorsement received from the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (MDS), reflecting the international academic significance of the Masterclass.
The scientific programme has been accredited with 08 (Eight) Credit Hours by the Odisha Medical Council (Letter No. 88083, dated 24.06.2026), enabling delegates to earn Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits.
The inaugural day concluded with enthusiastic participation from delegates, setting the stage for three days of high-quality scientific deliberations, hands-on learning, and academic collaboration.
